We wish to acknowledge your dedication and commitment in your area of expertise in building our home in North Qualicum Beach, which was completed in 2003. "In 2007, we contracted the services of Meadowood Homes to build our new home in Qualicum Beach. When we submitted our design, we soon found out that the home we had picked would not fit properly on the lot that we had chosen. Mr MacMicking was kind enough to give of his time and expertise to work with us to modify the plans so it would fit.
We are delighted with our home and are more than appreciative of the extra effort and advice that Mr MacMicking provided to us during this project. Each time a building inspection was done during the construction period, there were no issues which needed to be addressed. The sub-trades that worked on our home (provided by Meadowood Homes) all did a great job and were wonderful to work with.
I would highly recommend Meadowood Homes if you are searching for a building contractor."

"We would like to take this opportunity to recommend Chuck and Jean MacMicking with Meadowood Homes for any building project.
With the tight time frame and the building of three rental cabins needed for the 2011 summer season, the MacMicking's oversaw this project on a tight time line and on budget.
Changes of plans are always expected, however this never fazed them. Instead, they were very accommodating and respectful of all of our decisions.
Again, please accept our recommendation for the MacMicking's at Meadowood Homes for all your construction needs."

"In late 2011 I hired a local contractor to build and addition on my house in Qualicum Beach. I live in Central B.C. and was not on site to monitor the construction as it progressed and found out too late that he had billed me for the quoted price, but there was still lots more work left to be done. I stopped the work when he demanded more money to keep going. The weather was starting to turn bad and I needed someone to finish the work. Luckily, I found Chuck MacMicking from Meadowood Homes, who, as soon as he heard my story, went to the house to determine what had to be done to get the house to lock up stage. He sent me a very detailed report describing the work that was needed along with a quote for how much he would charge to see it to completion. We set up a meeting a couple of weeks later and went over all of the items the he felt were necessary to complete the addition. He was very understanding with my concerns about the bad experience I had had with the previous contractor and assured me that he would look after my house even though I wouldn't be there. His quote was very palatable , so we shook hands and he started right away. He immediately found some some items that were done incorrectly by the previous contractor and fixed them.
Besides doing all of the necessary construction work, he used his own sub trades to do the electrical, plumbing, insulation and drywall and oversaw everything that they did. He arranged all of the inspections and handled any issues that were presented because of them. Along the way, I had many extras that I added to his plate because I knew that from dealing with him he was going to get it done and at a reasonable rate.
I am very happy with the outcome and was sad when our business relationship came to an end, because Chuck and Jean MacMicking are both super people. I will use their services again without question and would recommend them to anyone that requires any form of construction or renovation work done."
"Why our New House, is now a Home"
It's been just a little over 3 months since we moved from Chilliwack on the mainland into a new house built by Meadowood Homes. We had a lovely house with a view and we were fond of it. We decided to move to the island and purchased a house from Chuck and Jean MacMicking of Meadowood Homes.
Within the first two weeks, we were calling it home.
The attention to detail in our home is nothing short of fantastic! From the awesome view, the placement of the structure and those thousands of little things that you never really think about until you go to use them and they're not there, or you find something that you never had before. In the kitchen, pull out dish towel racks, pull out cutting board, under cabinet lighting, granite counters, and tons of storage space that we have not even put a dent into utilizing completely. An open concept with vaulted ceilings and a high efficiency fan to keep everything circulating and a view of the Strait of Georgia with Lasqueti and Texada Islands in the background as well as the mountains on the mainland. A hundred other things in the plans from two hot water heaters for efficiency to a heat pump that keeps the house at a comfortable 21 degrees Celsius no matter what the outside temperature. Having just received our first hydro bill we found a cost that attests to the efficient insulation of the house. let me say that it was a pleasant surprise.
A garage big enough for two large vehicles and a workbench area as well as a storage area above to keep those things that accumulate but never get used.
As my wife is fond of saying "I love this house". Its a sentiment that I share.
Being newbies to the island we had many questions both about our new home and the new location we found ourselves in. Chuck and Jean went out of their way to help us settle in. If we had a question about the house or the heating system, Chuck would explain everything even taking time to personally visit and show us how things worked.
If you are looking for a new home or an addition or even renovations and value the quality and craftsmanship that goes into making a house a home, you cannot find anybody better than Meadowood Homes and Chuck and Jean.

We had used the services of Meadowood Homes for a small job when we moved to Bowser in the fall of 2012, so we thought of them when we were considering an exterior facelift. Chuck brought along his Architectural Designer, Gary Carniatio, who quickly grasped our vision! Drawings were completed in a timely manner and we decided to proceed in September of 2014. The reno included new siding, windows, extensive trimwork and a bumped façade around one garage door. the results were spectacular--- just what we wanted! We've received MANY compliments from our friends and every local person who goes by!
We appreciate how both Chuck and Gary listened to our ideas and any concerns right from the outset through the whole process. Chuck was in frequent contact via e mail, and would let us know when he'd be there, if he'd be late, etc. With the unusually---and early---wet autumn, there were delays but they pressed on as best they could. There were also inevitable issues associated with the re-doing an older home, but they took it all in stride and made the necessary upgrades.
They also took the initiative to go "above and beyond" to achieve the best results. For example, when they installed the wood trim around the front bay window they decided it needed to be "beefed up", so the made it even wider for a stunning effect! On another occasion, my husband remarked that the arbour was leaning and he needed to fix it, but before he knew it Chuck and quietly taken care of it---not on his job list but we were grateful for his generosity and attention to detail.
Both Chuck and Gary are dedicated and trustworthy professionals. They are pleasant and polite...and they clean up after themselves! The site was left cleaner than they found it. We are very pleased with the whole experience!
